Digital Media

"It's important to recognize music
and the recording of music, as an art."

dig·it·al -
of, pertaining to, or using data in the form of numerical digits.

me·di·a -
the means of communication, as radio and television, newspapers, and magazines, that reach or influence people widely

The world today is digital. We get our entertainment, news, information, and even health care through digital means. The Digital Media Course examines six separate, interlocking modules.

Digital Equipment Basics

In the DEB Lab, we explore the newest technologies…. the stream of digital information to and from the computer. You will use state-of-the-art interfaces, cameras and computers.

Digital Camera Basics

In the DCB lab, you understand more about your new digital camera. There is more than pointing and clicking to using your camera or camcorder.

Digital Photo Editing Basics

The DPE Lab pulls it all together, integrating the hardware and software. The seamless, transparent transfer of information, images and music is the focus of this lab.

Stage and Video Lighting

Video and stage lighting are essentials for good imaging. Many of our students are performers and they carry light shows with their acts. Knowing how to figure out an amp load is critical for stage setup.

Live Sound

Competent control of live sound is more than crucial, it is indispensable. It is difficult to imagine a great looking music video without great sound. This is why there is a Live Sound Module in the Digital Media course.

Music Video Production

Finally, the DM course culminates with music video production. You will learn the secrets behind the music videos you watch daily on TV or youtube. Video is one of the most important components for music promotion. The final exam for the Video Module consists of the preproduction, setup, live shoot, edit and final cut for a music video.
