Elements of Production

"It's important to recognize music
and the recording of music, as an art."

Today’s producer does more than make music…. The producer has taken the place of the A&R Executive. The producer is not only responsible for what goes on in the studio and control room, he is cognitive of what goes on in the board room as well: legal, marketing, financial etc. The producer has a great deal of input regarding the four “P”s of marketing - product, packaging, price and placement. The Elements of Production course is a succinct curriculum consisting of music law, copyrights and contracts, music psychology, time and motion studies, history of production, charting, functional business, concert promotion/production and of course “in the studio” music producing. This set of classes is the final step in preparation for a career in show business.

Upon completion of our two-year program, students part take in an exit interview. When asked what was the most difficult class they took, the overwhelming answer was Elements of Production. Next question, what was the most interesting class? The answer - Elements of Production. Then they were asked what was the most enjoyable class. The answer again, Elements of Production.
