Wil Freebody - Founder

Wil has been in show business for 47 years. His first professional experience was at CBS Records in 1963. “When I started in this business there was only one (1) switch, on!” Wil has assembled an experienced team of musicians, engineers, producers, videographers and photographers. “Our Strength is in our team. The head engineer started as a 13 year-old guitar student. Twenty-seven (27) years later he is still here.”
  




 
Frank "Doc" Messina

Doctoral Degree in Education -

Doc has been making music for over 50 years. He still performs locally. Doc also teaches broadcast and theory for LRSA.
  




 
James Michael Cooley

MA Music Education

Mike has been a band director for the state school system for nearly 30 years. He is a studio musician that still performs both in and out of the studio.
  




 
Keith Caudill - BA in Business

Keith Caudill is the Director of the Mountain Arts Center. He has been a leader in the music industry in Eastern Kentucky for over 30 years. As a pianist, businessman, innovator and performer, Keith is still making an impact on the music scene.
  




 
Terrance Young

Community Liasion

Terrance “Tee Dee” Young has the distinct honor of having the longest running band in Kentucky. For over 30 years he has been entertaining folks throughout Kentucky. Tee Dee is a long time friend of LSRA and the LIR Studios.

Amber Sloan

COO of LIRCO
Vice President
of the Lexington School for Recording Arts.

Amber has an orchestral background, twelve years organized music training that culminated with a BA in Music Business / Sound Production. She is also Certified Master Engineer and an accomplished producer. Amber’s superior organizational skills along with the music credentials make her the logical choice as VP for the school. Amber is uniquely qualified to teach Theory, Audio Engineering, Mastering, Introduction to Waves Software, Elements of production and scoring and charting.
 
 
Michael Thomas

Head of Studio Production

An accomplished guitarist, Michael has been playing and producing music for nearly 35 years. He is a Master Audio Engineer with a strong background in composition. Michael also has a BA in Business and Computer Science. Multi faceted, Michael teaches several courses. As Head of Studio Production is strong suit is obvious. It should be noted that his guitar skills are much admired.
 
 


Frank “Doc” Messina

Head of Broadcast Production

Although Doc is a terrific musician in his own right (he plays piano / guitar and has been a choir director in the public school system), he has a strong background in television production. As the senior member of the faculty, he brings 50 years of experience to both the Board of Trustees and students that attend our facility. We are fortunate to have Doc as a mentor and teacher in our school.
 
 


Byron Turner

Byron holds a MA in Music Theory and is a certified audio engineer. Byron is an active musician in the local scene. He teaches music theory and mastering for LSRA
 
 


Steve Nall

Steve Nall – Steve (guitarist /bassist) has been in the music business for over twenty years. He has been the head engineer for Long Island recording for 15 years. As the most experienced audio engineer in the region, Steve brings unsurpassed understanding and knowledge to his students.
 
 

Carolyn Austin

Carolyn Austin - Carolyn, is the Media Director for LIR Records. As a real world videographer /photographer for the label, she often includes her students in current projects. This is a huge advantage for her students, giving them real life experiences in the art of music video production.
 
 
Erin Cheeks

Erin is a all around Jack of All Trades. Musician, voice coach, audio engineer, master engineer and music software specialist. As well as all her other responsibilities, Erin holds monthly software seminars for the students.
 
 
Patrick Hairston

Patrick is the Lighting Director for LIR Productions, a professional DJ, certified audio engineer, camera man and writes a column about new gear for ME Music Entertainment.
 
 
Eric Rolph

Eric specializes in Broadcast production /video editing. He plays bass and also is a certified engineer.
 
 
Kim White

Kim is a long time educator for the public school system. She also heads up the educational counseling for LSRA.
 
 
Willy Freebody

Willy (drummer) is a camera operator and video editor for LIR Productions. He teaches lighting / electrical safety for stage and video.
